My Story

I hope you are having a blessed day with your lovely family! This time LW staff shared the gospel and encouraged us to look for a church to attend and seek God; we appreciate so much that they are worried about our spiritual life. Thankfully, I am healthy and so is my family. My mother is Manuela Morales Riquiac, and she is 34 years old. She helps my father to get income, and she sells vegetables in the plaza on market days. My father is Alfredo Garcia, and he is 34 years old. He has a veggies business, and in this way, he supplies the family’s needs. We do not raise domestic animals or grow anything because we do not have space to do it.

I am Marvin Isaac Garcia Morales, and I turn 13 years old in December of this year. I am a fifth-grade student; since I receive classes at school, and my learning has improved a lot. Nowadays, school supplies are very expensive, and it is hard for my parents to cover them because of a lack of resources. I speak the K'iche´ Mayan dialect as my native language and have some knowledge of Spanish. However, I would like to enhance my proficiency in Spanish to communicate better with others. When I am I bit older, I would like to travel to work in the United States to give a better life to my family. I enjoy playing football, which is the sport I like the most. I like firecrackers; I light some of them at Christmas time. Let me tell you that here in Guatemala, we have a protein drink called “Incaparina” which is delicious and is my favorite drink. I get so happy when my birthday comes, and my family buys a cake to celebrate with me; it is so special for me. I am so blessed to receive tasty meals in the feeding program and also receive medical care at the LW clinics; God is so good to me and my family. The most needed item at home is corn to prepare our tortillas. Hoping to hear from you very soon. May God bless you!
