My Story

Hello, I hope you are doing well today. I want to introduce you to Santos Luis Hernandez. He is a sweet man with special needs. He is 34 years old, and he can’t work due to his handicap condition. He lives at home with his mother and father, and his siblings. He is one of five children who have mental disabilities in his family. His father, Venancio, is a day-laborer, and his mother is a housewife who spends a lot of time taking care of Santos and his siblings. Santos is nonverbal, and he is not capable enough to help with any of the housework or chores. He likes to walk around a little bit, but he can’t go very far. He can’t even go to the program to get his food, so his mother, Tomasa, goes and brings it back for him and his siblings. His father doesn’t make very much money, but he uses everything he earns to move their family forward. Santos’ mother sometimes sells chickens when they need extra money, but otherwise, she stays home to take care of her children and the housework. One of Santos’ brothers lives and works in the USA. He sometimes sends a little money for them when he can afford to, but he can’t always do this. He sent money for them to start construction on two new rooms for their house, but it was not enough to finish the project, so they had to pause the construction. They pray God will provide so they can finish these rooms.

They go to church as a family at an evangelical church. They are a Christian family, and they believe Jesus is the Lord and Savior. They say that thankfully, Santos is doing much better than before. He was in the habit of leaving the house and they always worried about his safety. They always had to go out and look for him. He is the only one of their children who is registered under treatment in the hospital for his condition, which is a blessing. I hope you enjoyed learning a little bit about Santos today. His mother, Tomasa, is the one who provided this information. Thank you for taking the time to read his profile and showing your interest. May God bless you in all you do today and always.

With much love,

Santos Luis Hernandez
