Chuchucá

Chuchuca, where your child lives, is an area located high on the side of a mountain in the state of Quiché, Guatemala. Life in this area is very difficult and very isolated from the outside world. It is more than a two-hour walk to the nearest market town of Zacualpa. Chuchuca is a farming area where corn and black beans, the staple elements in their diet, are the major crops. The Quiché Indians who inhabit this area trace their ancestral roots to the ancient Mayan civilization. They normally speak an Indian dialect called Quiché - however, Spanish is becoming more common. Very little money ever changes hands in this area as they live on a barter system.
Hello! My name is Wilder Adrian de la Cruz Morente. My birthdate is October 25, 2015, and I am 9 years old. I am healthy and so is my family. At school I am in second grade. At the moment, I spend my time playing football. My favorite color is red, and I like dogs. The food I like the most is beans with eggs. I want to introduce my family. My father´s name is Benito de la Cruz Luis. He has been in the United States for 5 years. He works as a cook. Thanks to God, he helps us economically. He sends money to cover our expenses every month. My mother´s name is Maria Morente Alvarado. She is a housewife and takes care of us. I have four brothers and one sister. Two of my brothers are part of the feeding program too. We attend the Christ Church. We have the blessing to have our own house. It has four rooms and we use two of them and a separate kitchen. The house is made of adobe walls, tin sheet roof and concrete floor. We have running water and pay it every year. Also, we have electricity and pay it every month. My mother has some sheep, pigs and hens. We are a big family and have many needs. Some of them are corn and clothes. My brothers and I walk 15 minutes to get to the feeding program. Thank you for reading my information. May our Lord continue blessing you!
Kisses and hugs,
Wilder Adrian de la Cruz Morente
