Zacualpa is a small but busy village in a mountain valley. The village is inhabited by both Quiche Mayans and Ladinos (those with mixed European ancestry). The prevalent language is Spanish. Families in this village live in one or two room homes generally constructed of either wood or adobe. Although many of the people are farmers, the village contains several small specialized stores, a body repair shop for buses, mechanics, plumbers and many other small town tradesmen. It also has a large open air market which serves much of the area. Even with all of this, the poverty level is very high and the children are very needy.
Hello! My full name is Yareli Beatriz Equila Par and I was born on July 31, 2020. Thankfully, I am a healthy 4-year-old girl. I am too young to attend school, so I stay home and play with my oldest sister. My favorite game is hide-and-seek. I love having black beans with eggs for my meals. My favorite color is purple and rabbits are my favorite animals. Now, let me tell you a little about my family. I have one sister but no brothers. We attend the Catholic Church alongside our parents. My father is Marcos Federico Equila Jorge. He works in a grocery store to provide us with food and other needs. Unfortunately, he suffers from pylori, so I beg you to pray for healing. Fortunately, he is already under treatment. My mother is Eva Par Ajcalon. She is healthy and works in a store where she sells kitchen utensils to help my father with her income.
We live in a rented house and pay Q500=$64.80 monthly. It is made of bricks with a concrete roof and a concrete floor. It has one room, a separate kitchen, electricity, and running water. My parents also pay for those services. We would love to have our own house, so I also ask you to pray for this intention. The feeding program is about 10 minutes from where I live. My oldest sister and I get there on foot. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my information. May God bless you today and always!
In the name of Jesus,
Yareli Beatriz Equila Par
