Zacualpa

Zacualpa is a small but busy village in a mountain valley. The village is inhabited by both Quiché Indians and Ladinos (those with mixed European ancestry). The prevalent language is Spanish. Families in this village live in one or two room homes generally constructed of either wood or adobe. Although many of the people are farmers, the village contains several small specialized stores, a body repair shop for buses, mechanics, plumbers and many other small-town tradesmen. It also has a large open-air market which serves much of the area. Even with all of this, the poverty level is very high and the children are very needy.
Hello! I am very happy to share my information in this opportunity. I am Cecilia Deysy Hernandez Garcia. I was born on December 28th, 2015, in Zacualpa, Quiche, Guatemala. I am now 9 years old and I am in good health. I am repeating first grade this year. I enjoy playing with my dolls and riding on a bicycle. My favorite color is red and my favorite animal is the rabbit. I like to eat grilled meat. I have one brother and three sisters. I attend the Zacualpa feeding program and I get there in 25 minutes by moto taxi; my mother accompanies me.
My father is Victor Hernandez Alvarez. He works both as a farmer and a day laborer to provide for our home needs. My mother is Maria Garcia Chavez de Hernandez. She takes care of the house and she raises hens and washes clothes for other people. Also, she weaves typical items. By the grace of God, my parents are doing well. We live in our own house. There are 2 adobe rooms with a tin sheet roof and dirt floors. The kitchen is separated. There are running water and electricity services and my father pays for those. Our greatest needs are groceries and clothes. We attend Prince of Peace Church. I say goodbye to you for now and I hope you enjoy reading my information. Many and abundant blessings over you!
Warm regards,
Cecilia Deysy Hernandez Garcia
