My Story

Zacualpa is a small but busy village in a mountain valley. The village is inhabited by both Quiché Indians and Ladinos (those with mixed European ancestry). The prevalent language is Spanish. Families in this village live in one or two room homes generally constructed of either wood or adobe. Although many of the people are farmers, the village contains several small specialized stores, a body repair shop for buses, mechanics, plumbers and many other small-town tradesmen. It also has a large open-air market which serves much of the area. Even with all of this, the poverty level is very high and the children are very needy.

Hello! I am Rodrigo Arnoldo Giron Morales. My birth date is March 19th, 2018, I was born in Joyabaj, Quiche, Guatemala. I am already 7 years old; I am a healthy boy. I am in the first grade at school. My hobby is playing football. My favorite color is blue and my favorite animal is the duck. The food I love the most is fried chicken. I have one brother and one sister. I attend the Zacualpa feeding program and I arrive there in 10 minutes by motorcycle.

My father is Edar David Giron Veliz. He abandoned us about six years ago and we know nothing about him. My mother is Edelmira Madai Morales Estrada. She takes care of the house and raises ducks and hens. My mother established another relationship with Mr. Doyan Rene Sical Ordoñez three years ago. He works as a P.E. teacher and supports us economically. Thankfully, my family is in good health. We live in my maternal grandfather´s house. He lives there too and we share the house with one uncle. There are two rooms made of brick with a tile roof and a cement floor; the kitchen is separated from the house. We have running water and electricity services. The water is a yearly payment, and the electricity is a monthly payment. As a family, our essential needs are groceries. My family and I attend God´s Church. I hope you enjoy reading my information. Every kind of blessing over you!

Lots of love,

Rodrigo Arnoldo Giron Morales
