Zacualpa

Zacualpa is a small but busy village in a mountain valley. The village is inhabited by both Quiché Indians and Ladinos (those with mixed European ancestry). The prevalent language is Spanish. Families in this village live in one or two room homes generally constructed of either wood or adobe. Although many of the people are farmers, the village contains several small specialized stores, a body repair shop for buses, mechanics, plumbers and many other small-town tradesmen. It also has a large open-air market which serves much of the area. Even with all of this, the poverty level is very high and the children are very needy.
Hello! My name is Tatiana Inoea de Leon Tzoy. I was born on August 16th, 2021, in Zacualpa, Quiche, Guatemala. I will turn 4 years old this year and I am healthy. I am not attending school yet because I am very young. I like to play football and other toys. My favorite color is purple and my favorite animal is the cat. I like to eat eggs and chicken. I have one sister and no brothers. I attend the Zacualpa feeding program and I get there in 15 minutes by walking; one aunt is accompanying me to the program.
My father is Rolando de Leon Riz. He makes a living by working as a farmer. My mother is Susana Paola Tzoy Morente. She takes care of the house. Thanks to God, my family is in good health. We live in the house of one of my paternal uncles and do not pay rent. There is only one room and the kitchen is separated. The house is made of blocks with a cement roof and a ceramic floor. There are running water and electricity services; my father pays for those services. As a family, our essential needs are groceries and corn. For now, we do not attend any Church. I hope you enjoy reading my letter. Every kind of blessing over you!
Kisses and hugs,
Tatiana Inoea de Leon Tzoy
