My Story

Tunajá is a very primitive area of the state of Quiché, Guatemala.  The inhabitants are Quiché Indians who trace their ancestral roots to the ancient Mayan civilization.  The prevalent language is the Indian dialect - Quiché.  The people are either farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their laborers. Very little money ever changes hands as they use a barter system.  Public education is available - however, most families cannot afford it.  Electricity and running water are not available in most of the area.  Life in Tunajá is extremely difficult.

It is great to say hello for the first time. I am very excited to tell you about my family and me. I hope you are doing well like I am. My name is Franklyn Alexis Ventura Hernandez. I am the son of Diego Alfredo Ventura Gutierrez and Lorena Hernandez Garcia. I live happily with them. My father is a teacher and my mother a housewife. I only have one brother. Our religion is Catholic. Praise God, my family is healthy.

My father owns a humble house made of block walls, cemented roof and ceramic floor. It has three rooms and a separate kitchen. My father pays for the running water and electricity services. We are grateful that the Lord always helps us to cover our needs. We do not have any domestic animals at home.

About me, I can say that I was born on July 16, 2015. I am 9 years old. I attend the 4th grade at school. I love eating fried chicken. My hobby is playing soccer. My favorite color is blue. I like dogs. It is a blessing for me to be part of Living Water, so I walk alone for 5 minutes to attend. Well, it was a nice pleasure to share this information with you. I look forward to hearing from you again. Take care!

Many blessings,

Franklyn Alexis Ventura Hernandez
