Chixocol
Guatemala
Child
Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiché, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value. Life in Quiché is always a challenge.
Hello! It is my pleasure to introduce myself through this. My name is Maximiliano Estuardo de la Cruz Garcia. I was born on September 8th, 2017, in Joyabaj, Quiche, Guatemala. I am 7 years old and I am a healthy boy. I attend the first grade at school. I like to play football. My favorite color is blue and my favorite animal is the dog. I love to eat fried chicken. I have two brothers and three sisters. I attend the Chixocol feeding program with my siblings and we take 5 minutes to arrive there.
My father´s name is Carlos de la Cruz Riz. He works as a truck driver five days a week for a hardware store and usually carries construction materials. My mother´s name is Rosa Garcia Toj. She takes care of the house and raises hens and pigs. My father and siblings are in good health. As for my mother, she is having some health issues, but she does not like to take medicines. We attend Liberty Church from LW. Fortunately, my father owns the house in which we live; there are nine rooms, but we use only five rooms and the kitchen is separated. The house is made of bricks with a cement roof and a granite floor. We have running water and electricity services. The water is a yearly payment, and the electricity is a monthly payment. Our greatest needs are groceries. I hope you enjoy my letter. Many and abundant blessings over you!
Lots of hugs,
Maximiliano Estuardo de la Cruz Garcia
