My Story

Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiché, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value. Life in Quiché is always a challenge.

Hello! I am very happy to share my information through this. My full name is Jarrison Eduardo Garcia Garcia. I was born on February 21th, 2020, in Zacualpa, Quiche, Guatemala. I am now 5 years old, and thanks to God, I am a healthy boy. I am not attending school this year. I like to play hide-and-seek with my brother. My favorite color is purple and the animals I like the most are dogs and cats. I love eating broth and potatoes. I live with my mother and brother. Thanks to God, my family is doing well. I am very happy to be part of the feeding program and I walk 45 minutes to arrive at the program.

My father´s name is Ciriaco Garcia Luis. He works as a mechanic. Unfortunately, he abandoned us and established another family. My mother´s name is Glenda Janeth Garcia De La Cruz. She struggles to provide for our needs and she works as a domestic employee. She also raises hens. My grandparents try to help my mother as much as they can with our expenses. We are members of a Christian Church. The house in which we live belongs to my maternal grandfather; we share the house with my grandparents and aunts. There are five adobe rooms, the roof is made of tin sheets and a cement floor. The kitchen is separated. We have running water and electricity services; my mother and grandparents pay for them. As a family, our greatest needs are groceries, corn and school expenses. Thank you for reading my information. I appreciate that you read my information. Many and rich blessings over you!

Hugs with much love,

Jarrison Eduardo Garcia Garcia
