My Story

Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiché, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value. Life in Quiché is always a challenge.

Hello! I am very happy to share my information through this. My name is Erizon Neyser Cac Luis. I was born on May 27th, 2018, in San Jose Sinache, Zacualpa, Quiche, Guatemala. I am now 6 years old, and thanks to God, I am healthy. I attend 1st grade at school this year. I like to play tag and ride on a bicycle in my free time. My favorite color is yellow and the animal I like the most is the rabbit. I love eating fried chicken. I live with my mother, two brothers and one sister. Thankfully, my whole family is doing well. I am very happy to be registered in the Chixocol feeding program, and I go with my siblings; I get there in 45 minutes by walking or in 15 minutes by tuk-tuk. I usually go with my sister and cousins.

My father´s name is Rene Cac Perez. He works in a dairy in the United States, and he traveled abroad two years ago. He frequently keeps in touch and sends us financial support. My mother´s name is Francisca Luis de la Cruz. She takes care of the house and raises hens, sheep and pigs to sell. She also makes cross-stitch blouses to sell. We are members of the Ebenezer Methodist Church. The house in which we live belongs to my paternal grandmother; she lives there and some uncles and cousins do too. There are six adobe rooms, the roof is made of tin sheets and it has a dirt floor. The kitchen is separated. We have running water and electricity services; my parents contribute to pay the bills with the other relatives. Our greatest needs are groceries and clothes. I hope you enjoy my letter. May God bless you abundantly!

Kind regards,

Erizon Neyser Cac Luis
