My Story

Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiché, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value. Life in Quiché is always a challenge.

Hello! I am excited to introduce myself in this opportunity. My name is Maylin Maria Amarilis Aguilar Tzoc. I was born on March 12th, 2013, in Joyabaj, Quiche, Guatemala. I am 12 years old and I am a healthy girl. I attend the 6th grade this year. I enjoy playing football with my friends. My favorite color is purple and my favorite animal is the cat. I love to eat spaghetti. I have one brother and two sisters. I am very happy to be registered in the Chixocol feeding program; I arrive there in 15 minutes; I take a bus and then I walk a few minutes.

My father´s name is Bayron Estuardo Aguilar Aguilar. He works for Herbalife company and delivers their products. My mother´s name is Ana Gricelda Tzoc Chingo. She does the housework and sells homemade food in the mornings to get extra income. My loved ones are in good health. We attend a Liberty Church from LW. My parents own the house in which we live; there are two concrete blocks rooms with a concrete roof and a ceramic floor. The kitchen is separate. We have running water and electricity services; my parents support each other to pay those services. Our greatest needs are groceries. Thank you so much for reading my letter. Many and abundant blessings over you!

Lots of love,

Maylin Maria Amarilis Aguilar Tzoc
