Chixocol
Guatemala
Child
Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiché, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value. Life in Quiché is always a challenge.
Hello! I am very happy to share my information through this. I am Rosalba Manuelita Luis Tzoy. My birth date is December 12th, 2017, and I was born in Zacualpa, Quiche, Guatemala. I am 7 years old and I am a healthy girl. I attend 1st grade at school this year. I enjoy playing with my dolls at home. My favorite color is pink and the animal I like the most is the rabbit. I love eating fried chicken. Thankfully, my loved ones are in good health. I have two brothers. I am very happy to be part of the feeding program and I arrive there in 15 minutes by microbus. I attend the program with my siblings.
My father is not in my life because he abandoned us and we do not know anything about him. My mother´s name is Eva Carolina Luis Tzoy. Since my mother is a single parent, she struggles to supply our home needs. She traveled to the United States three years ago looking for a better job opportunity and she works there cleaning. She sends us money and communicates with us daily. Fortunately, my maternal grandparents are taking care of my siblings and me. They are: Victor Luis and Manuela Tzoy, and they raise hens and pigs. We are members of the charismatic group that belongs to Catholic Church.
The house in which we live belongs to my maternal grandpa and some of my uncles are living there too. There are 3 adobe rooms, the roof is made of tile and the house has a cement floor; the kitchen is separated. We have running water and electricity services; my grandparents pay the water once a year and the electricity every month. As a family, our greatest needs are groceries. I appreciate you reading my letter and I hope you find it interesting. Many blessings!
Kisses and hugs,
Rosalba Manuelita Luis Tzoy
