Pasojoc

Pasojoc is an area located high on the side of a mountain in the state of Quiché, Guatemala. Life in this area is very difficult and very isolated from the outside world. It is more than a two hour walk to the nearest market town of Zacualpa. Pasojoc is a farming area where corn and black beans, the staple elements in their diet, are the major crops. The Quiché Indians who inhabit this area trace their ancestral roots to the ancient Mayan civilization. They normally speak an Indian dialect called Quiché - however, Spanish is becoming more common. Very little money ever changes hands in this area as they live on a barter system.
Hello! I am so excited to share my information through this. My name is Isaac Luis. I was born on January 14, 2021, in Joyabaj. I am a 4-year-old roof. Let me tell you that I have only my mother´s last name because my father had traveled abroad when she was pregnant with me. My father´s name is Raul Morente De La Cruz. He works in a construction company and thankfully, he sends us economic support every two weeks. My mother is Maria Luis Garcia. She stays busy with the housework and raises hens to sell and help herself economically. I have one brother and one sister. I am in good health and so is my family.
Due to my young age, I am still not attending school. So, I spend my time playing with my toy cars. My favorite colors are blue and green. I love chicks and cats. The meal I love the most is fried chicken. My family and I attend Prince of Peace Church; we attend on Mondays and Saturdays. Fortunately, my father owns the house in which we are living. There are two rooms and a kitchen. It is an adobe house with a tin sheet roof and a concrete floor. We get water from a natural spring and do not pay for it. We get electricity from a solar panel. For now, our greatest needs are groceries. It is a great blessing for me to be part of the feeding program and receive the benefits. Some time ago, my siblings got sick with chickenpox and received medical care in LW´s clinics. We walk one hour to arrive at the program. This is all for now. Many and rich blessings over you!
Warm hugs,
Isaac Luis
