My Story

Pasojoc is an area located high on the side of a mountain in the state of Quiché, Guatemala. Life in this area is very difficult and very isolated from the outside world. It is more than a two hour walk to the nearest market town of Zacualpa. Pasojoc is a farming area where corn and black beans, the staple elements in their diet, are the major crops. The Quiché Indians who inhabit this area trace their ancestral roots to the ancient Mayan civilization. They normally speak an Indian dialect called Quiché - however, Spanish is becoming more common. Very little money ever changes hands in this area as they live on a barter system.

I am so excited to share my information through this means. My full name is Denilson David De la Cruz Pu. I was born on March 6^th 2021. I am a 4-year-old boy. My father´s name is Andres de la Cruz Ajqui. He works looking after cattle and sends us monthly support. My mother´s name is Olivia Pu Ruiz. She usually stays busy with the housework and raises hens, sheep and pigs. I have three brothers and four sisters. Thankfully, we are in good health.

I am not attending school because of my young age. For now, I enjoy playing with my toy cars. I love the color blue, and I like ducks. The meal I love the most is hen both, it is delicious. At the moment, we do not attend any church. We are living in my paternal grandmother´s house and some uncles are living there too. There are two rooms and a kitchen; we use only one room. It is an adobe house with a tin sheet roof and a dirt floor. There is running water and electricity, and my grandma pays for those services. My family and I are praying that we can have our own house in the future. Could you please join us in praying for our needs? I am so thankful for being registered in the feeding program. I attend alongside my older sister, and we walk 5 minutes to arrive. This is all for now and I would like to hear from you soon. I pray for God to bless you wherever you are!
