Pasojoc III
Guatemala
Child
Pasojoc III, where your child lives, is located in an extremely remote area of the mountains in Quiche, Guatemala. Life in this area is very difficult and very isolated from the outside world. It is a 3-hour walk to the nearest market town. The people who inhabit the area are Quiche Mayans who can trace their ancestral roots to the ancient Mayan civilization. They normally speak a Mayan dialect called Quiche, however, Spanish is becoming more common. The climate is basically warm, but it can get very cold at night. Houses in this area are typically constructed of adobe with tin sheet or tile roofs and dirt floors. Pasojoc III is an area rich with natural resources. It is a farming area where the inhabitants grow staples such as corn, beans and other types of vegetables. Many families also raise domestic animals such as sheep, goats, cows and chickens.
Hello! I greet you in the name of Jesus and I hope when you read my letter you are doing fine. This is Wendy Sofia Vicenta Grave Morales and I am 3 years old. I was born in Zacualpa, Quiche on January 20, 2022. I am in good health and I am not studying yet due to my young age. I stay at home and I play with dolls. I love rabbits and I like the color pink. Fried chicken is my favorite meal. We live in my paternal grandfather`s house and we share it with my grandparents. The house consists of two rooms and a kitchen made of adobe walls, tin sheet roof and dirt floors. We have electricity and we pay it every month. We also have running water and we pay for the service only once a year. We are a humble family and our current needs are groceries. At the moment, we are not attending any church. I have two brothers and two sisters, and three of them are registered at the feeding program too. My mother accompanies us to the program and we walk for 20 minutes to arrive.
My parents are in good health. My father`s name is Victor Grave Gutierrez and he works as a farmer and day laborer. He also travels to the coast for 3 months from December to February in order to earn extra money and cover our needs while my mother, Vilma Morales de Leon, does the chores at home. Moreover, she raises hens to sell and get some income. We have pigs, sheep and hens at home, but we would like to have some chicks because we have enough space for them. Well, I say goodbye to you for now!
Blessings to you,
Wendy Sofia Vicenta Grave Morales
