Pasojoc III
Guatemala
Child
Pasojoc III, where your child lives, is located in an extremely remote area of the mountains in Quiche, Guatemala. Life in this area is very difficult and very isolated from the outside world. It is a 3-hour walk to the nearest market town. The people who inhabit the area are Quiche Mayans who can trace their ancestral roots to the ancient Mayan civilization. They normally speak a Mayan dialect called Quiche, however, Spanish is becoming more common. The climate is basically warm, but it can get very cold at night. Houses in this area are typically constructed of adobe with tin sheet or tile roofs and dirt floors. Pasojoc III is an area rich with natural resources. It is a farming area where the inhabitants grow staples such as corn, beans and other types of vegetables. Many families also raise domestic animals such as sheep, goats, cows and chickens.
Blessings to you in the name of Jesus. My name is Catalina Yoselin Gonzales Jimon. I was born in Zacualpa, Quiche on October 9, 2021 so I am 4 years old. I am in good health and I am not studying yet due to my age. I spend my days at home and I play with dolls and teddy bears. I love cats and pink is my favorite color. I like to eat noodles. We live in my maternal grandmother`s house and we share it with my grandparents and uncles. We have two rooms and one kitchen made of adobe walls, tin sheet and dirt floor. We use candles for light at night because we do not have electricity. We get water from our own well. We also have hens at home, but we would like to have some chicks because we have enough space for them. We are a humble family, so we are always in need of groceries and clothing. We belong to the Catholic Church.
My parents are in good health. My father`s name is Mario Gonzales Tiquiram and he earns a living by tending a grocery store in Guatemala City. He lives there and he only comes to our home for one month. After that, he returns to the city. My mother and I also travel to Guatemala because she works in the tortillas business. We stay there for 3 months, and then we return to our home. Her name is Ana Lidia Jimon Barrera. My mother accompanies me to the Feeding Center and we walk 15 minutes to arrive at the program, and I am happy to be part of this. I will say good bye to you for now, but I hope you like to read my little story and may God bless you!
Kisses and hugs,
Catalina Yoselin Gonzales Jimon
