Pasojoc III
Guatemala
Child
Pasojoc III, where your child lives, is located in an extremely remote area of the mountains in Quiche, Guatemala. Life in this area is very difficult and very isolated from the outside world. It is a 3-hour walk to the nearest market town. The people who inhabit the area are Quiche Mayans who can trace their ancestral roots to the ancient Mayan civilization. They normally speak a Mayan dialect called Quiche, however, Spanish is becoming more common. The climate is basically warm, but it can get very cold at night. Houses in this area are typically constructed of adobe with tin sheet or tile roofs and dirt floors. Pasojoc III is an area rich with natural resources. It is a farming area where the inhabitants grow staples such as corn, beans and other types of vegetables. Many families also raise domestic animals such as sheep, goats, cows and chickens.
Hello! I send every kind of blessing to you and I hope you like to read my letter. This is Lea Cristina Gutierrez Tzoy and I am 5 years old. I was born in Zacualpa, Quiche on January 31, 2020. I am a healthy girl and I am in pre-kindergarten at school. I play with dolls and toy dishes and help my mother shepherding the sheep because I love sheep. I like the color red, and rice is my favorite meal. We live in my father`s house and we have four rooms. We cook in a small space because we do not have a kitchen. The rooms are made of adobe and blocks walls, tin sheet roof and cemented floors. We have running water and electricity. My father only pays for the electricity service once a month. We have sheep, hens, dogs and cats at home. Thankfully, we have enough space, so we would like to have some chicks. We are a humble family and our current needs are groceries. We belong to the Prince of Peace Pentecostal Christian Church.
I live under my parent’s care and they are in good health. My father`s name is Carlos Gutierrez Grave and my mother`s name is Micaela Tzoy Rodriguez de De Gutierrez. My father sustains the family by praying for sick people and people in need. He receives offerings while my mother tends her small grocery store in order to contribute to the home expenses. I have 3 brothers and 4 sisters, and three of them are part of the Feeding Center. We only walk for 2 minutes to arrive to the program. Well, thank you for your attention and may God bless you richly!
In Jesu`s name,
Lea Cristina Gutierrez Tzoy
