Pasojoc III
Guatemala
Child
Pasojoc III, where your child lives, is located in an extremely remote area of the mountains in Quiche, Guatemala. Life in this area is very difficult and very isolated from the outside world. It is a 3-hour walk to the nearest market town. The people who inhabit the area are Quiche Mayans who can trace their ancestral roots to the ancient Mayan civilization. They normally speak a Mayan dialect called Quiche, however, Spanish is becoming more common. The climate is basically warm, but it can get very cold at night. Houses in this area are typically constructed of adobe with tin sheet or tile roofs and dirt floors. Pasojoc III is an area rich with natural resources. It is a farming area where the inhabitants grow staples such as corn, beans and other types of vegetables. Many families also raise domestic animals such as sheep, goats, cows and chickens.
Hello! my name is Alison Sofia Elizabeth Cho de la Cruz and I was born on March 29, 2019. I am 6 years old and I am not studying yet due to my age. I stay at home and I play with dolls. I like pink, and I love doggies. I enjoy eating eggs and noodles. I am a healthy girl. We live in my grandparent`s house, and we have two rooms and one kitchen made of adobe walls, tin sheet roof and dirt floor. We have running water and electricity. My father sends the money to pay for the services. We have pigs and hens at home, but we would like to have some chicks because we have a little space for them. My brother and I are part of this project, and we only walk ten minutes to arrive to the Feeding Center.
We belong to Prince of Peace New Covenant Christian Church. We live under my grandmother`s care because my mother Aura de la Cruz Ajqui is living and working in Guatemala City in the tortillas business and as a maid. My father, Carlos Rigoberto Cho Can, left for the United States three years ago, and he earns a living by working as a gardener. He sends us money to sustain us, and also my mother supports us financially. However, the money is not enough to cover every expense, and we always are in needed of groceries and corn. My grandmother`s name is Santos Ajqui and she is always taking care of us. By the grace of God, my family and I are in good health. Well, thank you for your attention, and it was a pleasure to tell you my little story. May God bless you!
Warm wishes,
Alison Sofia Elizabeth Cho de la Cruz
