Chixocol

Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiché, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years, electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value. Life in Quiché is always a challenge.
Hello, I am so glad to introduce myself in this opportunity! My name is Allan Humberto Cac Mendez. I was born on December 22th of 2020, in Joyabaj, Quiche, Guatemala. I am now 4 years old. My father´s name is Noe Cac Ajqui. He works as a construction assistant and supplies our home needs. My mother´s name is Magdalena Mendez De La Cruz. She usually does the housework and raises hens for our consumption. My older siblings are working and help my parents with the home expenses. I have six brothers and one sister. Our pet is a dog. I am so happy because my family and I are in good health.
Since I am too young, I am not attending school yet. For now, I enjoy playing with my toy cars and football too. I love the color blue, and the animal I like the most is the cat. My favorite meal is fried chicken. My family and I are members of the Full Gospel Church. Fortunately, my mother is the owner of the house where we are living. There are two rooms and the kitchen is separated. The walls are made of concrete blocks with a tin sheet roof and a cement floor. We have running water and electricity services. The electricity payment is monthly, and my older siblings take turns to pay for it. The water is a yearly payment, and my father makes that payment. The essential needs for us are groceries and clothes. I am so happy to be registered in the feeding program. I attend alongside my siblings and we walk 45 minutes to arrive. This is all for now, but I would like to hear from you soon. Every blessing for you!
Lots of love,
Allan Humberto Cac Mendez
