Chixocol
Guatemala
Child
Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiché, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years, electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value. Life in Quiché is always a challenge.
I am so excited to share my information this time and I hope you find it interesting. My name is Genesis Raquel Ruiz Chitic. My birthdate is July 29th of 2021, and I am now 4 years old. My father´s name is Rafael Ruiz Gomez. He works as a security guard for a bank in our town; he provides for our home expenses. My mother´s name is Petronila Chitic Chan. She usually stays busy with the housework and raises hens for our food. Our pets are a dog and a cat. I have only one brother. I am so happy because my family and I are in good health.
I am attending nursery school this year. I love playing with my dolls. I love the color pink, and the animal I like the most is the horse. My favorite food is chicken in tomato sauce with spices. My family and I attend the Noah's Ark Assembly of God Church. We do not have our own house, and fortunately, my paternal grandparents allow us to live with them. We share the house with my uncles too. There are four rooms and the kitchen is separated. It is a block house with a tin sheet roof and a ceramic floor. We have running water and electricity; my parents and grandparents take turns paying the bills. Our essential needs are groceries, corn, clothes and footwear. I am excited to be part of the feeding program; my mom accompanies me and we arrive in 15 minutes by tuk-tuk. This is all for now, but I would like to hear from you. May the Lord bless you!
Kisses and hugs,
Genesis Raquel Ruiz Chitic
