My Story

Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiché, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years, electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value. Life in Quiché is always a challenge.

Good morning, I am so excited to share my information in this opportunity! My full name is Brayan Alexander Lindo Morales. I was born on April 1st of 2019, in Zacualpa, Quiche, Guatemala. I am a 6-year-old boy. My father´s name is Diego Lindo Tino. He makes a living as a farmer and day laborer. My mother´s name is Estela Morales Tiniguar. She is a housewife and weaves typical blouses to sell and help herself economically. We raise hens and pigs. I have three brothers and three sisters. Thankfully, my loved ones and I are healthy.

I am attending kindergarten this year. I like to color in my spare time. I love the color blue, and the animal I like the most is the sheep. My favorite meal is fried chicken. At the moment, we do not attend any church. Fortunately, my father owns the house in which we live. There are three adobe rooms with a tin sheet roof and a dirt floor. The kitchen is separated. We have electricity service, and my father pays the bill monthly. We get water from a natural spring for our use. For now, our greatest needs are groceries. I am so thankful for the opportunity to be registered in the feeding program; I walk 30 minutes to arrive and we have to money pay for a moto-taxi. My mother accompanies me to the program. I say goodbye to you for now, and I would like to hear news from you. Many and abundant blessings over you!

Warm hugs,

Brayan Alexander Lindo Morales
