Chixocol
Guatemala
Child
Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiché, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years, electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value. Life in Quiché is always a challenge.
Hello, I am so excited to introduce myself through this! My name is Dylan Javier Grave Mucia. I was born on May 19th of 2021, in Joyabaj, Quiche, Guatemala. I am a 4-year-old boy. My father´s name is Moises Grave Toj. He struggles for our family; he works both as a farmer and day laborer. My mother´s name is Toribia Mucia Barrera. She stays busy with the housework and raises hens. I have only one brother. By the grace of God, my loved ones and I are in good health.
Due to my young age, I am not attending school yet. At the moment, I stay at home and play with my toy cars. I love the color black and I like rabbits. The meal I love the most is fried chicken. My family and I attend Liberty Church from Living Water. Thanks to God, my father owns the house in which we live; there are three rooms and a separated kitchen. The house is made of adobe with a tin sheet roof and a ceramic floor. We get water from a well, and we get it with the help of a pump. We have electricity service and my father pays for the bill monthly. Our greatest needs are groceries. I am so blessed to be registered in the feeding program; I walk one hour to arrive there and my mom accompanies me. This is all for now, but I would like to hear from you soon. May God bless you wherever you are!
With all my love,
Dylan Javier Grave Mucia
