Chixocol
Guatemala
Child
Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiché, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years, electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value. Life in Quiché is always a challenge.
I am so glad to share my information in this opportunity! My name is Hilario Alexander Alonzo Quixan. I was born on December 12th of 2014, in Joyabaj, Quiche, Guatemala. I am now 10 years old. My father is Santos Alonzo Juarez. He is a blacksmith and has his own business. Fortunately, he provides for our home needs. My mother is Balvina Quixan Chajal. She does the housework and raises hens. I have only one brother. Our pet is a dog. I am so happy to tell you that my family and I are in good health.
I am a third-grade student this year. I like to go to help my father in his job or I enjoy playing football or riding a bicycle. I love the color blue, and I like hens. My favorite food is hen broth. It is delicious. We attend a Christian Church called Gospel Power and Faith. Thanks to God, we live in our own property. The house has four rooms, and we use one room as the kitchen. It is a concrete block house with a tin sheet roof and a cement floor. We have running water and electricity; my father pays for those services. As a family, our greatest needs are groceries. The feeding program is near my home, and I walk only 5 minutes to arrive. Well, this is all for now. May God bless you!
With much love,
Hilario Alexander Alonzo Quixan
