Chixocol
Guatemala
Child
Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiché, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value. Life in Quiché is always a challenge.
Hello! How are you? My name is Feliciano Uriel Emiliano Gonzalez Grave, and I am a healthy boy. I was born on January 24, 2021, so I am 4 years old now. It is my first year at school, and I am attending preschool. I play soccer in my free time. I like the color red, and I love dogs. My favorite food is fried chicken. I have one brother, and he is registered at the feeding program too. We live 10 minutes away from the program, and we pay a moto-taxi to get there; an uncle accompanies us. As a family, we are attending Full Gospel Church. Please pray for us and our needs which are groceries and corn.
My father’s name is Rodolfo Escobar Gonzalez Cac, and my mother’s name is Miriam Griselda Grave Gonzalez. They both left for the United States last year, and they are now working for a fish company. They communicate with us and faithfully send money for our needs. We live in my great-grandmother’s house which has two rooms and a kitchen. It is made of adobe and concrete block with a tin sheet roof and concrete floor. We have running water and electricity services. My aunt, Dominga Panjoj, takes care of us and covers our needs with the money that my parents send. She helped me with this letter. Please pray for her because she suffers from uric acid and is under medical treatment. This is all for now. May God bless you!
Kisses and hugs
