My Story

Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiché, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value. Life in Quiché is always a challenge.

Hello! I am Lidia Angelica Pu Garcia, and I am in good health. I was born on April 18, 2021, so I am 4 years old now. I am not attending school yet due to my age, so I stay at home playing with my dolls. I like the color pink, and I love cats. My favorite food is fried chicken. I have five brothers and two sisters, and four of them are registered at the feeding program too. We walk for 25 minutes to get there, and our mom accompanies us.  We are a big family, and my oldest brothers work as microbus helpers to help with the income. As a family, we are attending a church. Please pray for us and our needs which are groceries, clothes and shoes.

My father’s name is Rosalio Pu Gutierrez, and he works as a farmer with other people to cover our needs. My mother’s name is Santos Garcia Gutierrez de Pu, and she is a housewife; she sometimes does the laundry of others to earn some money. We live in a rented house, and we pay Q200.00 quetzals ($26.00) per month; my oldest siblings contribute to pay the rent. The house has two rooms and a kitchen, and it is made of concrete block with a concrete roof and floor. We have electricity, and we get water from a well. We have some hens and a cat at home; the hens are for our consumption. I say goodbye to you for now.

Kisses and hugs
