My Story

Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiché, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value. Life in Quiché is always a challenge.

Receive my warm greeting. My name is Juanita Wailani Tzoy Tzunux, and I am healthy. I tell you that I was born on September 28, 2021, so I am 4 years old. I am not attending school yet due to my age, so I enjoy playing with my dolls at home. I like the color pink, and I love dogs. My favorite food is fried chicken. I am the only child in the family, and I walk for 20 minutes to arrive at the feeding program. At the moment, my family and I are not attending a church. Please pray for us and our needs which are groceries and corn.

My father’s name is Wilmer Josue Tzoy Mucia, and sadly, he abandoned my mother and me one year ago; I do not know what he is doing for a living. My mother’s name is Juana Hilda Esperanza Tzunux Panjoj, and she is a housewife; she raises hens and pigs to earn some money. My maternal grandmother is supporting me with food and some clothes. We are living in a house that belongs to one of my uncles. The house has one room and a kitchen, and it is made of tin sheets with a dirt floor. My maternal grandmother provides the running water and electricity services; my mother pays her for it. This is all for now.

Many blessings

Juanita Wailani Tzoy Tzunux
