My Story

It is a pleasure to greet you by this letter. I am Alvin De La Cruz Grave and I turn 16 years old in June. I want to share a little about my family and me.  For a long time, we are not attending any church, but in this opportunity, the LW staff shared the gospel with us and we are sure that God loves us and is our father.  My mother is Candelaria Grave Gutierrez and she is 35 years old. She does the chores at home and also takes care of my young siblings. Furthermore, she raises domestic animals like hens, pigs, and cows. At home, we grow corn and black beans for our consumption. My father is Agustin De La Cruz Calachij and he is 35 years old. He earns a living by working as a day laborer also he goes to the coast with my siblings for two months to work as farmers and pick coffee beans.

This year I am not attending school. I just finished 6th grade. I am currently working as a day laborer in order to support my family. I would like to be a mason in the future.  I enjoy Christmas time because we eat tamales (a typical dish) and share them with our relatives.  My favorite drink is coffee. My native language is Quiche Mayan and so I would like to improve my Spanish to communicate better with other people.  In addition, I am interested in learning the English language. I like my birth date because I receive some gifts.  Among sports, I love to play soccer.  Thank God, we are all in good health. My family and I are so grateful to you and Living Water because thanks to your support I receive a delicious meal when I go to the Feeding Program, also I receive medical and dental attention in the clinics. We are a humble family, our priority needs are corn, black beans, and groceries.  Sending all my love to you.  Every blessing for you!

May God bless you,

Alvin De La Cruz Grave.
