Zacualpa is a small but busy village in a mountain valley. The village is inhabited by both Quiche Mayans and Ladinos (those with mixed European ancestry). The prevalent language is Spanish. Families in this village live in one or two room homes generally constructed of either wood or adobe. Although many of the people are farmers, the village contains several small specialized stores, a body repair shop for buses, mechanics, plumbers and many other small town tradesmen. It also has a large open air market which serves much of the area. Even with all of this, the poverty level is very high and the children are very needy.
Hello! My name is Linsi Yanet Garcia Ajqui and I fondly greet you. I was born on May 4, 2021. Thankfully, I am a healthy 3 year-old-girl. I do not attend school because I am younger, so I stay home with my mom. My favorite pastime is playing with my dolls. I like having eggs for my meals and my favorite color is pink. Cats are cute and fluffy, so they are my favorite animals. I live with my parents and siblings. I have two brothers and two sisters. We attend a Christian Church called Full Gospel. My father is Santos Garcia de la Cruz. He works hard as a mason’s helper. On the other hand, my mom keeps busy with the household chores and raises hens to sell. Her name is Maria Cristina Ajqui, and she does her best to help my father with the household chores.
We live in our own house. It is made of adobe with a tin sheet roof and a dirt floor. It has two rooms, a separate kitchen, electricity, and running water. I beg you to pray for my family and our needs. Some of our priorities are groceries and clothes. My house is a 20-minute walk from the feeding program. I usually get there alongside my mom and siblings. I say goodbye to you now, but I thank you so much for taking the time to read my information. Take care of yourself!
In the name of Jesus,
Linsi Yanet Garcia Ajqui
